Approval Hierarchy for Time-Off Requests

If an employee has multiple managers, you can control the order and number of approvals required for their time-off requests using Approval Hierarchy settings.

How to Set the Approval Hierarchy

  1. Log in as an Administrator.

  2. Go to the Time-Off ModuleManage UsersUser List.

  3. Select the user and click Edit User Settings.

  4. Open the Approval Hierarchy tab.

  5. Choose one of the three options from the dropdown:

    • Any Manager – Any one of the assigned managers can approve. Only one approval is required.
    • X out of Y Managers – A certain number of assigned managers (X) must approve for the request to be valid.
    • Specific Sequence – Managers must approve in a defined order for the request to be valid.

 

Note: X out of Y Managers and Specific Sequence options will only appear if the user has more than one assigned manager.

Quick Tips

  • Use Specific Sequence for structured approval workflows, such as department heads first, then HR.

  • Use Any Manager for more flexible approval processes.
