How to Terminate an Employee or Manager in PurelyHR

Terminating an employee or manager in PurelyHR requires following the correct steps to ensure the user is set to inactive and all future time-off requests are canceled automatically. Here’s how to do it.

hy Follow the Termination Process?

When you complete the termination process properly:
  • The user will be set to inactive on the termination date.
  • All future time-off requests in the Time-Off module will be canceled.

Steps to Terminate an Employee or Manager

  1. Go to the Staff Module.
  2. Select Staff Directory.
  3. Choose the user you want to terminate.
  4. Click the Employment Tab.
  5. Select Terminate.

On the “Begin Employee Termination” Screen:

  • Select the Termination Date.
  • Choose the Termination Type.
  • Select the Termination Reason.
  • Indicate if the user is eligible for rehire.

If rehired, the original hire date remains on the profile, and the current hire date updates to reflect the new hire date.


Continue the Process:

  • Click Continue.
  • Follow your checklist and check off each task as completed.
  • Confirm the Time-Off Summary section.
  • Add an optional Termination Note.
  • Read and check off the disclaimer.
  • Select Terminate Employee or Continue Later if you need to confirm other tasks before finalizing.
  • When ready, click Confirm Termination.

Canceling the Termination Process

You can cancel the termination process at any time by selecting Cancel Termination.


What Happens After Termination?

The user will automatically be set to inactive.
