Onboarding a New Employee
Learn how to start the onboarding process in PurelyHR, from selecting an employee and setting start dates to assigning templates, attaching documents, and confirming the plan.
Starting the Onboarding Process
To begin onboarding a new employee:
- Go to Onboarding in the Main Menu.
- Click Onboard New Employee.
Step 1 – Select the Employee

Choose the employee you want to onboard from the dropdown list.

The employee must already exist in your account.

If they are not yet added in Staff™, click the gear icon next to the dropdown and complete the mandatory fields (highlighted in blue) to create their profile.
Step 2 – Set the Start Date and Time

The start date will automatically populate based on the hire date you entered when creating the user.

If needed, adjust the date.

Select the time they should start on their first day.
Step 3 – Add the Email Address

Enter the email address where the onboarding welcome email will be sent.

If the new hire doesn’t yet have access to their company email, you can use their personal email.
Step 4 – Choose the Onboarding Template

Select the template you want to use for the new hire’s onboarding plan.

To create a new template, click the gear icon.
Step 5 – Review and Confirm

Review the employee’s details, selected onboarding plan, and preview the onboarding email.

If your onboarding template includes tasks requiring user-specific documents (such as offer letters or contracts):

You’ll see a red exclamation mark beside those tasks.

Attach the required document by either:

Selecting a file already uploaded to their User Profile, or

Uploading a new file from your computer.

Once everything looks correct, click Confirm.
✅ What Happens Next
- The new hire will receive their onboarding email and can begin completing their tasks.
- Task owners will receive an email notification that a task has been assigned to them.
