Managing Punch Settings in PurelyHR

Managing your punch settings in PurelyHR is simple and automatically saved—no “Save Changes” button is required.

Follow these steps to access and adjust your settings:

Navigate to:
Time-Clock Module → Account Settings → Punch Tab

Settings you can modify:

  • Timecard & Punch Edit: Control whether Managers can edit/delete employee timecards or whether Employees can edit/delete their own timecards.

  • Shift Description: Require users to provide a description when punching out. Options: Off, Prompt, or Require.

  • Punch Button Text: Customize the text displayed on punch buttons instead of “Begin,” “End,” or “Shift.”

  • Outstanding Punches: Set the time at which a shift is considered “outstanding.” Employees punching out of outstanding shifts must confirm the punch time before punching in again.

  • Grace Period: Allow employees to punch in late within a specified timeframe. Example: A 15-minute grace period records a punch within 15 minutes of the shift start as the scheduled start time.

  • Rounding: Enable time rounding and set the rounding interval. Example: With 15-minute rounding, a 7:04 AM punch rounds to 7:00 AM, while 7:10 AM rounds to 7:15 AM.

  • Overtime Prevention: Prevent early or late punches by setting a threshold. Example: With a 30-minute threshold, a scheduled 8:30 AM start records punches between 8:00–8:30 AM as 8:30 AM, and punches after a 5:30 PM end are recorded as 5:30 PM.

Adjusting these settings helps streamline time tracking and ensures consistent, accurate reporting for your team.
