Changing User Permissions for Requesting Time-Off

As an administrator, you can control what your users can and cannot do when requesting time-off in PurelyHR.

To access these settings:

  1. Go to the Time-Off module.
  2. Select Account Settings from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click the Time-Off Request tab.

From here, you can adjust the following permissions:


Allow Partial Day Requests

Decide if employees can request part of a day off:

  • Yes – Any Given Timeframe (default) — Allows any length of time. You can modify increments per Time-Off Type in Settings → Time-Off Types → Edit.
  • Yes – But Only Half Day Requests — Restricts to half-day only.
  • No – No Partial Day Requests Allowed — Disables partial-day requests.

Multi Day Requests

  • Enabled (default) — Users can request multiple consecutive days.
  • Disabled — Limits requests to a single day only.

Past Day Requests

  • Enabled (default) — Users can submit requests for past dates.
  • Disabled — Blocks past-date requests.

Future Calendar Year Requests

Control whether users can request time-off in the next calendar year:

  • No (default) — No future-year requests allowed.
  • Yes – User Chooses Which Year — User decides which calendar year to deduct from.
  • Yes – Force Deduct from Current Year
  • Yes – Force Deduct from Next Year

Prevent Users from Submitting Requests

Disable time-off requests entirely for all users (can also be turned off for individual users in their User Settings).


Allow Requests to Be Editable

  • Enabled — Staff can edit a future-dated request they’ve already submitted.
  • Disabled — Edits require manager intervention.

Allow Full Day Hours Override

  • Enabled — Staff can override the default hours in a full-day request.
  • Disabled — Default hours are locked.

User Cancellation

  • Enabled — Staff can cancel a future approved request themselves.
  • Disabled — Cancellations require manager approval.
